Rules and Requirements

Age Groups:

                  Children A: 8 and under (by May 21, 2024)

                    Children B: 12 and under

                    Youth A: 15 and under

                    Youth B: 18 and under (or high school senior)

    Chamber music and duet age will yield to the oldest member of the ensemble. 

Repertoire Requirement:

    Piano Solo: two contrasting pieces from different historical period. Single movement from a larger work (i.e. sonata) is acceptable.

    Piano Duet; one or two standard duet pieces. No stylistic requirement.

    Chamber Music (duets other than piano 4 hands, trio, quartet, or quintet): one or two standard duet pieces. No stylistic requirement.

    Instrumental: two contrasting piece, solo or accompanied. Single movement from a larger work (i.e. concerto, sonata) is acceptable.

Format: 

    Piano Solo: Live Audition or Online entries. 

    Piano Duet: Online only

    Chamber Music: Online only

    Instrumental: Online only

Awards:     PIPC will award 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes and honorable mention prizes. There can be multiple winners for each prize. 

      All winners will receive certificates and are invited to perform in winners concert on June 1st, 2024. Location: TBA (Pittsburgh). No fees required for this performance.

    Piano Solo winners will receive cash prize as follow: 1st-$180; 2nd-$100; 3rd-$50.
